Cammie "wheeliechick" Lusk
age: 40
My Overall Goal: Get Healthy
Just over a decade ago, Cammie Lusk was very active—playing sports and enjoying life. But it changed almost overnight, when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis. M.S., according to the Mayo Clinic, is an autoimmune disease that attacks the nervous system, and for Cammie, only 28 at the time, it was absolutely devastating.
"Within a week, I couldn't lift my leg. I couldn't walk. They told me I would get to a point where my husband wouldn't be able to take care of me anymore—that I wouldn't be able to be around my kids."
As her condition worsened, Cammie couldn't take care of herself or her kids. Chemotherapy slowed her digestion to a halt, and she virtually stopped eating. She felt like a burden on her family, and slipped into depression.
"It got so bad that I thought they would be better off without me, because I was such a burden to them."
But a slow change took place when Cammie's husband Dan got involved with Beachbody®. He started P90X® and so did their three boys. Cammie wanted in.
"I wanted to start working out so that I could be the wife and the mom that my kids and my husband deserved. . . . I wanted to prove to myself that my disease does not define who I am or what I can do."
Researching different workout techniques and reaching out to P90X creator Tony Horton for help, Dan devised a set of modified workouts Cammie could do from her wheelchair.
"The one we had to concentrate on the most was the cardio program. . . . If they were showing a front kick, I did a punch. If they showed a sidekick, I did a high sword.
"P90X gave me strength. It gave me hope. It gave me power. . . . I started believing that I could once again be the person I was before multiple sclerosis."
Cammie struggled with the workouts, because for years, her slow digestion wouldn't let her get enough calories to stay energized. She found one solution with Shakeology®.
"Shakeology made my body come ALIVE!"
"I looked forward to each and every day and finally realized that I could do something great, because I now had the energy and the strength to do just that."
Dan is truly grateful. "My wife after 11 years is now physically active again, and after 11 years, she looks great. She feels great. Her appetite is back . . . and we attribute that to the Shakeology, just kick-starting her system again and getting everything moving the way it was supposed to."
With Shakeology and modified workouts, Cammie has made major progress. Her leg strength has increased, and she can now ride a stationary bike—something she hasn't been able to do in more than 10 years.
"If I can do that, if I can do P90X, if I can make my legs work to ride a bike, there is hope that I can walk again."
She's dropped 70 pounds and cut her body fat from an unhealthy 35 percent to a healthy 20 percent. She says she's no longer embarrassed to wear tank tops and buys jeans even smaller than the ones she wore in high school. For all of Cammie's hard work and dedication, she is the 2009 Grand Prize Winner is Beachbody's Million Dollar Body Game®.
Dan Lost Over 50 Pounds using P90X

Dan Lusk
age: 42
My Overall Goal: Live A Healthy Life
70 pounds overweight, unhappy, chronic back pain, insomnia and asthma is what Dan Lusk saw when he looked in the mirror on his 40th birthday. Years of working a high stress job with irregular hours coupled with the stress of caring for his wife while she battled her multiple sclerosis had taken it's toll on Dan and his health.
By the age of 40 Dan had already been admitted to the hospital twice with chest pains. Having the responsibility of caring for 3 active boys Dan realized he needed to make a change or he wouldn't be around for them.
Starting out riding a stationary bike and doing what he knew to clean up his diet, Dan was able to lose 30 pounds in 3 months but he still didn't look or feel healthy. He saw an infomercial for P90X and decided to give that a try. The day P90X arrived in the mail, Dan sat down and read the nutrition guide and he saw what had been missing from the equation.
He started his program on February 23rd, 2009. Within 2 weeks he felt completely different, he started to feel energetic and healthy! His family saw the change in him and they wanted in. Dan's children started working out with him and eating more healthy. They no longer wanted the sugary cereal for breakfast, they wanted oatmeal, eggs and lean protein and fast food no longer ruled their "normal" diet routine. They replaced processed foods with Shakeology finally giving their bodies the nutrition it desperately needed.
Dan's wife, Camille, also started working out with the family doing a modified version of P90X from her wheelchair. His parents, both age 66, started working out to Kathy Smith Project You; Type 2 as well as drinking Shakeology. They have changed their lives and now have the energy to finally enjoy their retirement. All together Dan and his family have lost 240 pounds in one year!
Dan and his family are finally healthy all thanks to P90X and the support of the Team Beachbody community! Now when he looks in the mirror he is proud of who is looking back at him!
